What does "Official" mean here?

The Official Register of Color Names is an independent, private registry — not a government body, international standards organization, or educational institution. "Official" means your color name becomes the single authoritative entry for that color code within this Register: one code, one name — one of the 16,777,216 colors of the 24-bit RGB digital color space — recorded permanently and publicly.

Registration does not grant a trademark, copyright, design rights, or legal ownership of the color itself — it is a permanent, verifiable commemorative record with a certificate and a dedicated page, similar to naming a star or dedicating a park bench. See our Terms & Conditions and FAQ.
